Cosmetic Dentistry: The Art of Beautiful Smiles

Posted on January 9, 2017 by admin in cosmetic dentistry

cosmetic dentistry DentonWhenever you laugh, eat, or speak you open your mouth revealing the teeth that have allowed you to chew and speak clearly your entire life. If you are disappointed with what you and others see, cosmetic dentistry is available so that can transform your appearance. A consultation with our dentist will identify problem areas and the solutions available within your timeline and budgetary requirements.

Stained dentition – Over time teeth can become discolored, stained, yellowed, or just plain drab. Depending on the severity and number of teeth impacted, your dentist has many options for you. Bonding may be selected if areas to be treated are minimal. However, for multiple teeth correction, your dentist may recommend porcelain veneers.

The beauty of porcelain veneers is that this treatment is the answer for more than just stained teeth. Chipped enamel; misshapen or worn dentition; unwanted spaces between teeth; as well as dental stain can be eliminated with veneers.

Porcelain veneers are thin, tooth colored shells that are made to be cemented to the front of teeth requiring improvement. A small amount of dental enamel is removed from teeth to be treated (about the thickness of the veneer itself); impressions are taken for the dental lab; and temporaries are placed to protect teeth until veneers are ready.

Your dentist will try on the veneers to guarantee a perfect fit and appearance. Minor adjustments can be made, if needed. Veneers will eventually be permanently cemented in place providing the smile makeover you have always dreamed of having.

Missing teeth can impact more than your appearance. How you chew and speak can be challenging if one or more teeth have been lost due to trauma, decay, or infection. A dental prosthesis may be one answer, but a solution that is closest to having your natural teeth back is dental implants.

A dental implant is a titanium post that is embedded in gum tissue where tooth loss has occurred. Your dentist will perform preliminary tests to determine bone presence as insufficient bone will not allow the proper bone integration with the implant. Bone augmentation is possible to allow the dental implant to be placed.

As the surgical area heals, bone is grafting to the implant to provide a solid base to support the restoration that will ultimately cover the implant.

Cosmetic dentistry can enhance your appearance. To learn more about your options, contact Withers Dentistry at 940-566-2847 and schedule your professional consultation today.
