Porcelain Veneers Create Stunning Smiles

Posted on May 6, 2014 by admin in veneers

veneers DentonThe appearance of your teeth says a lot about you. Stained, crooked, chipped teeth or any dental imperfection can make you feel self-conscious. There is a very affordable, minimally invasive solution to these and more cosmetic dental problems and that is veneers.

Veneers are very thin, tooth colored shells often made from porcelain. They can be used to repair:

  • Stained or discolored teeth – Topical stains from diet or lifestyle are often removed during semi-annual visits with the hygienist. But more stubborn stains from illness or medication may require more extensive efforts. Veneers can cover one or multiple teeth.
  • Chipped or broken teeth – Teeth can be strengthened when veneers cover chipped or broken teeth, so the benefit is not just cosmetic.
  • Misshapen or worn dental enamel – Teeth can appear uneven or crooked; patients who do not wish to undergo years of treatment to correct crooked teeth can resolve their appearance with the help of porcelain veneers.
  • Spaces between teeth – Teeth can have unwanted gaps. Those spaces can be drastically diminished when veneers are used to cover them.

Porcelain is stain resistant and will not respond to whitening; if teeth whitening is desired it should be completed prior to initiating the veneer process so whitened biological teeth will be the basis to determine shading for the veneers.

The procedure for dental veneers generally will take three appointments, but can be completed in a mere couple of weeks. The first appointment is for the consultation; the second appointment will involve dental impressions. The removal of a small amount of dental enamel is necessary (about the thickness of the veneer itself) on each tooth to receive a veneer.

On the third and final appointment, the veneers will be tried in for aesthetics and the proper fit. Once approved, the veneers will be permanently cemented to the front of teeth requiring repair. Any minor adjustments can be made at this sitting.

Patients wishing to improve their appearance with cosmetic dentistry are no longer limited by the size of their pocketbook. Dental veneers are affordable and widely available. A consultation with our dental team will demonstrate just how easy it is to create a stunning smile with porcelain veneers.

Our Response To Coronavirus (COVID-19)

Although the Governor has rescinded the mask mandate, as a Dental Office we are subject to protocols of the Texas State Board of Dental Examiners (TSBDE). The TSBDE has not lifted its COVID 19 emergency protocols, so masks are still to be worn by patients and staff in the dental practice. We will be continuing all of our COVID safety protocols and respectfully request all patients, staff and vendors wear a mask in our office. Thank you for helping us keep the safest environment possible for our patients and staff.

Please contact our office if you have any concerns.
